Red Ribbon - urban intervention

Project: "Red Ribbon" - urban intervention
Architects: Fjolla Saiti & Nusejba Hamiti
Location: Tetovo, North Macedonia
Funded by: Ministry of Culture, North Macedonia
Year: November, 2022

“Red Ribbon” is a creative intervention in a public space positioned at the main entrance of the former building of Radio Tetova, used by Social Cultural Space Tetova.

The location where the intervention is placed is an organically developed neighborhood built during the Ottoman Empire. The characteristics of this period are distinguished here, such as narrow streets, and two-story houses with commercial spaces on the ground floor.

With a continuous organic form, the intervention maintains many functions: bicycle parking, a flower pot, a seat, and a cover over the door.

The functions given to this element are needed by both the users of the Social and Cultural Space and the municipality administrators that share the same entrance. The main material used for
this intervention is metal due to its characteristics such as stability, easy assembly of elements, and the possibility of moving or reusing it.
